Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM)

During construction or maintenance activities in healthcare facilities, life safety systems may be impacted or taken offline for an extended amount time.  These systems can include, but are not limited to, exit signs, fire protection systems, horn/strobe devices, smoke/heat detectors, fire/smoke walls and doors, and egress pathways.  In order to address the deficiencies that can be created by the work activity, Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) must be developed and put in place.

We can not only assist in establishing your ILSM, but can manage the entire program for you. By allowing us to integrate with your in-house Facilities team, we are able to assess life safety risks, determine hazards, and implement preventative measures -  from the pre-planning stages, through project completion. We can assess the existing knowledge of your team, determine training needs, and develop appropriate training.

Throughout the project, we are able top conduct life safety audits to ensure continued compliance of regulations, safety policies, and your safety performance expectations. Our audits will include not only the identification of deficiencies, but also practical corrective solutions. With that data, we are able to provide comprehensive trending reports based on site-specific observations. Managing “ground up” initiatives such as safety committees, toolbox talks, and opportunities for program feedback from the “boots on the ground” personnel are an important part of how National Safety Consulting can meet your ILSM needs.
